The Liz Moore Low Vision Center
Imagine a life draped in a cloud of darkness, or a life in which the world’s beauty presents itself as a series of blurred and confusing images. Those who suffer from low vision problems face demanding challenges everyday.
The Liz Moore Low Vision Center at St. Vincent’s East strives to help these individuals, young and old, by teaching the skills needed to cope with these challenges and providing the support to function in daily life.
The Low Vision patients are able to receive educational experiences, both individually and with family members to learn about their eye condition and ways to accomplish every day tasks to meet the end result of independence. Eye health education is continually provided through low vision support group meetings. The support group meetings allows the opportunity for idea exchange and socialization with other people who suffer from low vision, as well as the chance to learn about the latest vision technologies. Liz Moore Low Vision Center seeks to decrease the frustration of vision loss through individual program development and to meet low vision needs in the areas of: reading, writing, money management, magnification use, computer adaptation, medicine ID, glare reduction, monocular use, clothing ID, self advocacy and food management.
